Richard Cordts- Founder
1961, Richard began offering plumbing services to local residents. As a Korean war veteran and father of 7 children, Dick Cordts offered locals his mechanical prowess in an already booming plumbing industry.
His apprenticeship with his father furnished a deep knowledge of industry standards, and his natural outgoing personality made him a favored service technician in the area, and so River Dell Plumbing and Heating was created.
There were ups and downs throughout the years and the economy was hardly ever generous, but Cordts kept kickin' for almost 4 decades, until Richard suffered a massive heart attack that drove him to the top of the transplant list. A successful surgery soon after left a 70 year old Richard, with a 23 year old's beating heart.
It was at this time that his younger son, Paul, stepped down from a successful construction company, and stepped up to run Cordts Plumbing. A slow road to medical recovery meant a rocky start at the transition, but Paul's technical talent showed through immediately and Cordts began flourishing.
Richard and Paul continued to expand through advertising and additional technicians on the road. But it wasn't long before Richard's health caught up to him.
In 2001, leukemia struck Richard's circulatory system and within several weeks, Cordts Plumbing and the Cordts Family had both lost their founder.
He loved his family, He loved the Lord, and he loved people. All who knew him attest to his loving heart and generosity.
In it's third generation, Cordts Plumbing is now run by Phil Cordts, Richard's first grandson (out of 13), who, along with excellent field knowledge and experience, is finally ushering Cordts into the 21st century. By building an accessible online presence with the public, Phil has been able to reach more homeowners who need a trustworthy contractor and offer them top notch and exceptional knowledge and workmanship that only generations of wisdom can provide.
Cordts Plumbing continues to honor Richard's legacy by being committed to vocational excellence and customer satisfaction. We are proud to continue the tradition of the small family business style and since 1961, Cordts Plumbing has provided north Jersey and its surrounding areas with premium, quality plumbing service and exceptional customer care.
